Yes I love the fact that you want to go straight for your RN. I know you will be a wonderful nurse. The hospital setting is a wonderful setting to choose. It is definitely fast paced. Working in a fast paced environment makes time go by so fast. I am sure working in the hospital setting will allow you to see and expierence things that a nurse working in a doctor’s office or even long term care would not see. I wish you the best in all your endeavors Grace. The sky is the limit.

Yes, I agree Fatuma a vacation is much needed after this program. I hope you and your family have a wonderful time visiting those three countries. I also like geriatric community they are near and dear to my heart. My comfort zone is the nursing home but I want to challenge myself to work elsewhere. I know you will be successful in all you do Fatuma.

I agree, using different sources for this research paper helped a lot. I found it difficult to write this 5 page paper. I also found it difficult to make my paper flow even after all the research I did. I also had family help with editing. I plan to reread it again before final submission.

I understand where you are coming from Kristin. I feel as if I am the same way when it comes to my writing assignments. I am constantly editing and changing my paper. I like that you read your paper out loud. I know for me that is very helpful because sometimes what I write does not make sense until I read it out loud.

Yes Fatuma I agree. I used to have the same mind set when it comes to reading material and rewording it. I feel as if it is all a learning process for us all. I am glad that our professor has broke down what it is so now we know what not to do in the future. I agree when you said if someone were to steal your work you would be upset. It is not fair and it unsettling. It is all about critical thinking skills.

Yes I agree. It is a real issue and can lead to major consequences. You bought up a great point when you said it defeats the whole point of education. Professors want us to research a topic and give credit where credit is due. I understand the severity of plagiarism. In the workplace you want to be known for a person with integrity and like you said bring your own creativity to the table. It is about trust and honesty

Yes Grace, I agree. These are all common mistakes. Another one I can think of is overly using quotes and misusing paraphrasing. I know I have made these common mistakes in the past. I am learning to fix my mistakes with every paper I write. I appreciate that fact that you included a direct source to assist with APA format. This resource should be used more.

I agree, APA format is so detailed that some aspects of it can be forgotten or overlooked. I am still getting in the hang of writing in APA that sometimes I still find myself making these common mistakes. I also agree about what you mentioned about the title page. We often do not consider the cover page as a part of the actual paper but it is when it comes to APA format. It is all a learning process

Yes Grace I can relate to the self doubt. I still have moments of self doubt but that is when I tap into my faith and God reminds me that he opened the door for me to go back to school and he will see me through the times where I don’t feel like I am good enough. Also the balance of school and just life in general is a work in progress. It may take time but we will eventually find the balance.

I admire you for balancing family and school. I know it is not easy. You should be proud that we are seven weeks into the first semester and you’ve been doing great. It is great to have a supportive family to allow you to accomplish your goals. Time management comes with time. I feel like we are all still trying to find balance with school, work and family

Yes google scholar is a great credible source for research. Also I like the examples of the peered reviewed journal websites they gave us in the prep program as well. BMC nursing, NAtional institute of health, American Nurse Association, and Open access journal. These have all ben useful for me during my research.

I agree it is important to know that your sources are credible especially when the assignment is for a research paper. I am glad we know know what credible sources to look for and which ones to stay away from.

    Hi Fatuma,

Yes I agree with you. Using a transfer lift to assistive is a way of keeping patients safe at all times. Stand lifts, slide boards and Sara steadys are other assistive devices to help transfer as well.

    Hi Grace,

I appreciate your take on evidence based practice. Fall prevention is a great example of evidence based practices. We should ensure our patients are safe at all times. Also making sure their room is free of clutter and and making sure they have their assistive devices as well.

Yes Kristin, I agree when approaching children it should be done in a thoughtful way. Protecting the child should be at the forefront of the parents and the researcher involved in the study.
