    Hello Marie!

I think it’s important how you mentioned the risks of artificial wombs and how it can reduce risk of complications during childbirth. There are so many mothers who are at risk during pregnancy and many complications can occur. As you mentioned, artificial wombs can reduce this issue and hopefully provide mothers and partners the chance to have a healthy safe pregnancy! I didn’t even begin to think about the religious perspective, but it’s a great thing to keep in mind when some people are against that, so how do we accommodate for them?

    Hello Melanie!

I also agree, evidence-based practice is a key element! By continuing to be open to learning and expand our professional development, we can provide patients with the best outcome. As you said, patient outcomes would not end well if we didn’t, I can’t begin to imagine the horror stories! I think back to earlier years of nursing practice and how things have positively changed tremendously just in the past twenty years!

    Hello Cristina!

I like how you shared the use of personal protective equipment and how times have changed. Nowadays gloves are very normalized, and nurses are discouraged for not wearing them at times. As you mentioned before, it’s hard to believe it was seen negatively, but in all reality it’s just to protect the patient or us even from the smallest germs!

    Hello Pumi!

I just read Marie’s post and noticed some similarities to both your cultures in a way! She also mentioned respecting your elders by not looking them in the eyes. I can imagine it was also an adjustment for you when you came to America to look people in eyes to show respect. I like how you shared wanting to show your kids respect, but also safety. I think that’s super important for children in American because it’s not always a safe place unfortunately. I’d love to hear more about your time in Africa, you mentioned it was a safe place, and I’d love to hear about how it was growing up in the country. I feel growing up in America, most of us are paranoid to an extent for our safety nowadays, we used to be able to ask the neighbor for milk or eggs, but now you have to be mindful of the world, so I’d love to hear more of the differences!

    Hello Marie!

I truly think it’s amazing to hear your cultural background and how it differentiates from America. I really believe that other countries share values and traditions in such a beautiful unique way compared to here, I’d love to hear more about the traditions in Haiti! I didn’t know looking one in the eyes especially elders was a sign of disrespect, I can see how coming to America, that could be an adjustment for anyone. I feel it would be an adjustment for me visiting another country with not looking one in the eyes due to it being normalized here!

    Hello Mel!

I like your input on qualitative research how it may be a better way to draw in readers; that’s a good thing to keep in mind when writing! I can see how other’s may prefer quantitative research over that due to the more reliable factual information-based numbers and research to back up their writing. I think you did a great job differentiating the two different types of research!

    Hello Pumi!

I like how you mentioned objective information in your discussion post when discussing the different types of research. That’s what came to my mind too when researching more about quantitative research! I agree with you on the costly effect it could potentially have, that’s a great thought!

I enjoyed hearing your perspective on the internet being a distraction as a few of us were in the middle range. I like how you further explained it, “your brain is a beautiful muscle and if you don’t use it, you will lose it”. I think this shows us that forming our own thoughts and ideas into writing goes further than just being original in our writing but shares how it’s important for us to use our brains, with anything really. I can absolutely see how it hinders your imagination and think that’s a good thing for writers to remember.

I agree with your statement about social media and messaging being a huge distraction, the internet can definitely be a useful tool for one’s writing. I like how you mentioned setting boundaries with the internet, because I think that’s quite important when it comes to writing. There are many ways we can set boundaries as you shared. I think it’s a useful thing to remember when writing.

    Hi Cristina,

I also like how you referred to it at “fluff”, I like to think of it being filler words that we don’t have any necessary reason to use. Not everyone can remain attentive when using filler words especially in reading or communicating, we lose our attention span fairly quickly. Filler words tend to make it difficult to retain information from reading or taking away anything you were communicating due to the overabundance of words being used. I agree, it is very important in nursing to communicate accurately and both affectively.

    Hi Pumi!

I absolutely agree with you, often times we forget that others may not have the nursing knowledge that we possess. Especially in the nursing field between nurse to other team members, communication is very important. But nurse to patient communication is just as important as we want to send a clear message to our patients in a way they will understand, especially when it comes to medication or any other at form treatments they will have to complete individually. We also want to understand what our patients are relaying to us.

Hi Melanie! I too feel as though I’m a narrative writer, sounds like we all have many similar traits when it comes to writing and other academic skills! I thought it was really neat how you mentioned writing, specifically, U.S writing being one of your fun activities. Sounds like you have a positive hobby that keeps you busy! I used to thoroughly enjoy writing back in my high school years!

Hi Cristina! I like how your input on the argumentative writing, “when I’m right, I’m right”. When it comes to argumentative writing, it’s a great way to get yourself into the mindset to back up any of your argumentative writing paper. Many papers are influenced by other’s feelings or thoughts versus their own, but I think it’s great how you’re always willing to stand behind what you believe! Definitely requires a skill not everyone has!

Hello Marie! Wow, it’s so fascinating how many languages you’re familiar with and hearing about your homeplace! Did you have any culture shocks when you came to the states? I took French back in high school, but I’m not very fluent in it anymore. So excited for our nursing journey together!

Hello Cristina! I too want to survive the LPN program. I have faith if we all stick together that we will all accomplish that goal. I wish you luck moving this weekend. Hopefully it’s a smooth process for you and that you love your new place!
