    Hi Mel,

I am so happy you have decided to make some adjustments to your plan, but havent given up on your goal of becoming an RN. Unfortunately life has its way of throwing obstacles at you to overcome, but you show great strength to rewrite your story and continue to persue your goal! Sometimes its all about the time being right and from getting to know you so far, i can tell your going to make a great nurse! Your smart and take your time with your patients, i know they feel well taken care of by you! I can see your capable of great things and i hope you achieve your goal, no matter how you get there!

    Hi Selva,

I find it interesting to learn that you have a bachelors degree in engineering. When i was younger and was trying to figure out what i wanted to pursue a career in, i also went to college for engineering. I loved it, found it very interesting, and loved working with autocad, But i decided to take a different path. I found that my love for taking care of others when they need it most and the feeling of watching others achieve goals and overcome setbacks would not be fufilled if i stuck with engineering. Im so happy for you that you have decided to return to school and potentially find a new passion! Engineering was very challanging, your so smart, and your compassion for others will make you an amazing nurse!

    hi Deb,

I couldnt agree with you more. I do believe that the beneifts of research should be balanced evenly for benefits and risks. I think that ethically, if the risks are minimal and there is an age appropraite conversation with the child, and the parents understand completely, the study should be conducted. Our healthcare would not be where it is today without study’s conducted. I try to think that if my child was unhealthy, i would want to do anything in my power to cure her or try to make her healthy and we wouldnt have options if we didnt have prior studies. also, i like to think as nurses we have a strong foundation of EBP and how would we know if we didnt have evidence or if studies werent conducted.

    Hi Ava,

I do agree with you, children lack the capacity and logic to comprehend and should have their parents consenting to any research being conducted, but i do see the value in research conducted. I love to look at both perspectives and as long as the risks are minimal and the children are protected and safe, I think the research would be beneficial because we wouldnt know what we do without research and studies.

I have always wanted to live on a farm and have a bunch of animals, I imagined it being very therapeutic. I also grew up with a very early curfew which I feel like contributed to my secretive teenager behaviors growing up. Although I experienced a lot that could have been avoided, I feel like it shapes you into the person you are today. The strength, independence, and responsibility may not have been so profound if you didn’t experience the things you did. 12 is super young to be so independent, but alteast you know now that you have that as a strong point in your personality and you can instill that in your kids! It’s important to have as an adult, especially in the world the next generation will be growing up in.

As a creature of habit, I can definitely relate to being uncomfortable with change and the unknown being so scary. I have always been petrified of change and as an adult had to learn to embrace it more because life is always changing. I also grew up attending a small school and I went to one school from kindergarten until I graduated high school. I’m glad that as you got older you find yourself surrounding yourself with a different culture of people! That’s a change right there and as I started embracing change, now sometimes change feels therapeutic and often times feels like a breath of fresh air to me.
