How to Take the Test and Get Your LNA License in NH
After finishing the LNA program, you’re ready to take the Nursing Assistance Competency Exam. You can schedule your exam directly through the testing company, Excel Testing.

NH State Police Background Check & Fingerprinting
The NH Board of Nursing must receive and review your criminal record report and fingerprinting to complete the application process. The Board of Nursing can only accept completed criminal record reports sent directly from the NH State Police. The State Police only keep fingerprinting results in their system for 30 days.
WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO SCHEDULE YOUR FINGERPRINTING APPOINTMENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID LICENSING DELAYS.
What you need to know about LiveScan fingerprinting
- Bring your photo ID to the appointment.
- You will receive an “Applicant LiveScan Site Form” which you will need to send to the Board of Nursing. Put it in a safe place and do not lose it.
- You can complete your LiveScan fingerprinting at any time before, during, or after your LNA course.
- The NH State Police will send your LiveScan results directly to the Board of Nursing.
- You must pay for your LiveScan online when you make your appointment.
NH Board of Nursing Application & Online Account
- Be sure you have completed and sent in your LiveScan fingerprinting documents.
- Select “Create an Account” from the menu on the left.
- Enter your first and last name.
- Enter 0 (zero) in the License Number field if you have never held a NH license.
- Fill out the registration page with your personal information.
- Create a username and password.
- Create a password question and answer.
- Click “Register”
- The message “You have successfully registered” will appear
- Click the “Please Login” link
- Login with the username and password you created.
- Click on “New Application” from the menu on the left if you have never held a NH license.
- Select:
- Profession: Nursing Assistant
- License Type: Licensed Nursing Assistant
- Obtained by Method: Competency Evaluation
- Click “Start Application”
Verify Your License
The Board of Nursing will NOT mail you a paper copy of your license. Everything is done electronically. The Board of Nursing will also NOT contact you to let you know your application has been processed. It is your responsibility to check the Board of Nursing website to verify your license has been posted.
