    1. The hospital’s chief executive had made the decision to turn the people away out of concern for their safety, and they had also been told to guard the area and forbid admission to anyone who was not in uniform because the facility had already received enough patients.
    Yes, racial discrimination played a role in the decision because the majority of those turned away were African Americans and those with dark skin.

    2. Yes, it was essential to put the animals to sleep because Cook had been dealing with the ailments of several family pets, and one of his daughter’s cats also had a tooth abscess. He had left the animals in the kitchen with the request that they not be left to suffer in silence.
    People worried they wouldn’t be saved because pets weren’t permitted on the boats and helicopters, but there were other options.

    3. The decision to not transfer her to safety or provide her with oxygen felt personal; therefore, it was impossible to maintain the viewpoint. The woman was dear to Green, and she loved her, so she couldn’t bear to see her die on the ground. However, Green felt numb about the situation.
