    1. Pou’s arrest was a serious matter. She was accused of intentionally administering lethal doses of medication to patients in an attempt to alleviate their suffering during the disaster. I can imagine there were various emotions swirling as Pou was being taken to jail.
    2. Pou’s lawyer strongly criticized Foti for how he handled the arrests, suggesting that the attorney general used sensationalism in performing his duties. Almost immediately, those in the medical field began sharing their opinions. Ethicists started distinguishing between euthanasia and assisted suicide on one side and palliative care on the other.
    3. To develop the skills needed to lead during a crisis, one must focus on effective coordination and communication, build adaptability skills, and possess the ability to work well with others, show empathy, and proactively find solutions.
    4. The lessons drawn from Hurricane Katrina have led to enhancements in disaster planning and hospital training. Other lessons include ensuring backup generators and fuel supplies, maintaining ample stocks of food, water, and medical supplies, and having a system in place to track patients during an evacuation.
