Phlebotomy Technician Course (PHL)
Phlebotomy Technicians are critical team members at hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and blood donor centers. With many employers having an increasing demand for phlebotomists, most seek, and many require, a professional certification. Upon completion of the Phlebotomy Program at LNA Health Careers, students will be eligible to sit for the National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam to become Nationally Certified by the National Healthcareer Association. As a CPT, you will have the credentials you need to set yourself apart from other applicants as you embark on a growing and rewarding healthcare career.
The length of this course is 90 hours. Additionally, the Phlebotomy Program requires some work outside of class and students can expect to spend an additional 5-10 hours per week on reading and homework assignments.
For the Phlebotomy Online course, you will also need:
- Computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet in order to access your course
- Strong internet connection so you can stream recorded lectures and skills videos
- Optional textbook if ebooks are not preferred method for learning

A Phlebotomy Externship is an optional component of the Phlebotomy Program at LNA Health Careers, it is not a requirement. The externship is 40-80 hours in length and at a participating clinical location in New Hampshire.
The cost of the externship is $200.
The requirements of participating in an externship are:
- Submit documentation of Hep B vaccine series or declination.
- Submit proof of immunity to measles, mumps and rubella, varicella, tetanus (within 10 years)
- Submit documentation of full COVID-19 vaccination series.
- Submit documentation of a two-step negative TB test within the past year or negative chest x-ray dated within the last 5 years, or a QuantiFERON lab test within the past year.
- A high school diploma or GED
- Has an active Health Insurance plan and card
- Possesses proficiency in English and basic math as determined by the pre-entrance examination. Must successfully pass the pre-entrance examination with a score of 80% or greater.
- Submit documentation of a safe to work exam by medical provider.
Phlebotomy Course Fees
Seat Deposit Fee: $450 (due at sign up, non-refundable)
Supplies Fee: $250
Criminal Record Check: $25
Liability Insurance: $25
Tuition: $1,250
TOTAL: $2,000
Upon successfully graduating from the Phlebotomy Course students will receive a certificate of completion and will be eligible to sit for the National certification exam from the National Healthcareer Association. Interested students will be required to register for the National exam with the Program Director via the Admissions team.
The cost of the National exam is $130.
A Phlebotomy Externship is an optional component of the Phlebotomy Program at LNA Health Careers, it is not a requirement. The externship is 120 hours in length and at a participating clinical in New Hampshire.
The cost of the externship is $200.
