The hospital turned people in need away for many factors. Lack of resources, flooding, power outages and limited staff. Race was a factor, most of the patients and those turned away were mostly African American. That was the population in that neighborhood. So i don’t believe they made race a factor it just was.

The pets were euthanized because there was no way to care for them, no food and the hospital was flooding. It was done to prevent more suffering. Alternatives were limited due to the conditioned. But in my opinion maybe they could have just let them go and they could’ve found their own way to survive. Animals have instincts for the outdoors that humans don’t

The breakdown of communications in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina contributed to the chaos. What caused this breakdown is many things such as loss of power, lack of resources and isolation.
