1. What struck me most about the author’s description of Dr. Pou was that she is a beautiful, intelligent and affluent woman who loves a challenge and choose a career in the most laborious spectrum of Otolaryngology. She preforms operations that are physically grueling and technically demanding and could last an entire day and through the night.
I believe Dr. Pou’s biggest strength is her ability to explain procedures to her patients and nurses. She is compassionate and advocates for her patients. She is out going, hard working and has the ability to take control of a situation.
Dr Pou has a reputation for being dramatic and testy at times. She can make small problems into bigger ones and is not always willing to step back and allow other specialists to do their work. She is also quick to blame others when things go wrong.
2. At this point of the book I am feeling extremely anxious knowing what lies ahead for the doctors and patients at Memorial Hospital.
3. Martial Law is an extremely rare use of police powers by the military, typically requiring an act of Congress. Martial Law had not been declared in the disaster zone.
