1. The final death count of patients at Memorial was higher than any other healthcare facility or hospital during Hurricane Katrina.
2. In order for Tenet representatives to show no wrong-doing regards to patient deaths, they would have to give a list of the deceased patients, answer questions, submit the hospitals emergency plan, and submit a paper stating the events that took place.
3. Families were informed about the deaths of their loved ones by Tenet using phone calls, or patients’ families directly contacted the hospital with questions on their loved ones.
4. The investigators learnt from the diseased patients family members that they lost their loved ones over suspicious drugs being used to control them and keep them comfortable. Morphine was found in 9 out of 18 patient autopsies in high concentration. Midazolam was found in 5 or 6 patient autopsies.
5. Butch Schafers mantra was that he would give everything he had to get just 5 more minutes with his daughter. Bruce was trying to find lethal doses of drugs in patient autopsies. While hearing Nelson’s story, many emotions hit him at once, reminding him of his daughter’s story.
