1.I do think that allowing the people who can ambulate out on their own first saved lives as this may have freed up resources to allow those sickest to receive car they need. this also allowed for those well enough to go to stay as healthy as can be to get well somewhere safer however the elevators being shut down and lack of helicopters to move people only made it worse for those who were the sickest as resources now depleted even more so to help them. This truly was a no win situation
    2. The man yelling that there were boats seemed to be s scammer or some kind of con artist promising rescue boats as when people went to see Susan was confused saying there were no boats and people discovered some of their belongings missing it appears this rescue was a false alarm sadly. Staff had their pets there as some of their homes were destroyed or in the path of intense flooding no one wanted their pets to suffer or be abandoned. cloverleaf was the highway interstate exchange its how people were able to gain access to the hospital this was also a place where people were left to camp out post rescue. They were basically dropped off without access to anything bathrooms, food, water etc. This is the part in the story that shows us the outside of the hospital were suffering through depleted basic resources and no real rescue at all.
    3. Mark walked into a literal war zone and of course his emotions would get the best of him seeing his own mother suffering and essentially neglected so why would he try to put himself in the workers shoes at that moment he was wrong being angry with them the staff at the hospital were exhausted to and at that moment he was angry at the wrong people he was right to be angry but his anger was mis directed.
    4. The triage system typically is sickest people first but this tragedy needed to change this and this new way had its flaws but giving the circumstances this was the better option that being said there was nothing being considered for the sickest patients they did not have a plan although patients were DNR this should not have meant do not rescue literally DNR is in place when someone does die to not use heroic efforts to save them.. in the book they speak of the triage system as basically determining what life is “more important” how can we truly determine this again a truly no win situation. a utilitarian approach in a perfect world yes of course most fair but sadly it wouldnt work in this situation. As far as organ sharing I firmly believe the organ should go to the one who will benefit from it the most and get the most use time wise out of it. This became a slippery slope as this seemed to help the richest and discriminated against certain ethic groups in my opinion it should be strictly how healthy a person is and who could be matched.
