Dosage safety is referred to in the textbook as a vigilant process. We’ve all learned the medication rights, which are important steps to checking any medication. But beyond this, it’s important that we always question our work and our peers. The best and most effective way to catch a med error is to double check our work. If you feel the dosage does not make sense or an order may be incorrect, there’s always a benefit to checking it. This act of prevention by vigilance can keep our patients safer and sharpen your talent for catching mistakes early on.
