    The six rights is important for patient safety. It’s important for you as a nurse to ensure you are giving the right patient the medication, dose and route. To ensure you give the right patient the right medication always be sure to use two patient identifiers. Always make sure you read the label correctly prior to administering the medication. Check to make sure all the information is correct and there. Make sure if there is tall lettering you ensure its the right medications and also review any labels, like high alert labels. This is all important for your patients safety, following these steps ensure your patient is getting the right medication and its the right patient, a medication error is a mistake and everyone makes mistakes, but it could be deadly. Ensure you are doing all of your safety checks before giving the medication.
