    1) The hospital decided to turn people in need away because they were overwhelmed by the sheer number of patients they were receiving. They had limited resources and needed to prioritize the most urgent cases.Race was not a factor in this decision black parents. The priority was to treat the most urgent cases and, thus race did not play a role in the decision.

    2) It was necessary to euthanize the pets left at the hospital due to the chaotic situation and lack of resources. There was no other viable option given the circumstances as the hospital was unable to care for them. The only other alternative would have been to wait for the chaos to subside and for the hospital to have the resources to care for them, which was not possible in the immediate aftermath of the disaster.

    3) Yes, it is possible to hold the view that Merle Lagasse is dying of cancer and that she is somebody’s mother.Dr. cook’s view is focused on the medical aspects of her condition, while Nurse green’s view is focused on the emotional aspects. Both views are valid and can be held simultaneously. While Merle’s cancer is terminal and her death inevitable, she is also somebody’s mother and deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.

    4) The factors that continue to plague communications during this disaster include lack of resources, overwhelmed communication systems, difficulty coordinating with multiple agencies, and lack of situational awareness.
