the key decisions:
1- difficult decisions were made by the medical staff by prioritizing patients based on what their conditions were and their likelihood of surviving.
2- doctors had to develop and implement evacuations plans, like who would be evacuated first or how to transport certain people with how severe they were. they then had to decide where to transport them to.`
3- people had to advocate for the patients if they couldn’t, some doctors had to make decisions for some of the patients.
4- all of these decisions made were done during a crisis and under extreme measures and were very difficult to make.the man with the boat calling for rescue in the middle of the night didn’t actually need help. they put the man there as a loiter to distract the loiters from stealing things. pets were brought to hospitals because it was thought to be a safe place and the animals couldn’t be left alone. when they were brought they were put in cages so they couldn’t run free around the hospital. patients were dropped off at cloverleaf highway, and dumped in the grass.
when outside people enter hospitals or facilities I feel they don’t actually know what happens inside the hospitals and how crazy they can actually be until you’ve worked in one. or the amount of energy the workers actually have to put in to get their job done and to deal with some of the patients or the family members. although I do think that anyone who enters does deserve to be treated with respect from the employees as the workers are professionals and. need to have respect.
the priority system for evacuating patients definitely did not fit in the accepted triage range of practice. the resources were scarce there was no food very little to no medication nor medical supplies/electricity. it was difficult for workers to get the order of triage because there were patients waiting for hours at a time. ut was a challenge to balance everything at once due to the lack of resources in the hospital.
the utilitarian method is used to make decisions based on the amount of benefits obtained for the greatest number of individuals. I feel that there shouldn’t be a conflict to decide wether someones life is more important than another because their wounds are more severe than the other peoples. it should come down the th people who need the help the most rater than people who can go a few hours or a couple days without the help. I believe that there should be no voice on organs I think everything would be better if this wasn’t ever a thing. -
