After autopsies, morphine was found in patient bodies. Both nurses admitted giving the drugs to life care patients and were later arrested on four homicide charges.
Karen Wynn believed in medicating patients for comfort, aiming to provide them with peace and dignity. However, her testimony was notably absent from the grand jury proceedings.
2.There were numerous simulations of pandemic outbreaks, consistently revealing that US hospitals lacked sufficient equipment and ran out of ventilators. To address situations similar to the 1918 Spanish flu, US hospitals began expanding their supplies and stocking extra ventilators. While this wouldn’t be enough during a pandemic, it would at least contribute to providing the best care possible for all patients.
3.In my view, justice was served. Surveying during a disaster is extremely challenging. Dr. Pou and the nurses did their best to care for patients and keep them comfortable in the midst of a difficult situation.
