Case Study

Jill and Peter are new parents of a 7-pound 6-ounce baby boy. This is their first child, and they have many questions and concerns. Peter is an accountant, and Jill worked full time as a buyer for a major department store. They have just purchased a new home and have many expenses. They briefly discuss their financial concerns about their new house and the arrival of the baby. Peter verbalizes that he wants his wife to stay at home and care for their son full-time. Jill is ambivalent about the decision to remain at home or return to work after her 6-week maternity leave.
